The Metropolitan Schoolhouse Philosophy
At Metropolitan Schoolhouse, differentiated learning is taken to a new level by recognizing and nurturing the unique abilities and talents of each student. We believe that each and every one of us can learn and that we all learn best in various ways. Learning is a lifelong endeavor and school is a place to gain both knowledge and the skills necessary for a lifetime of learning.
Fostering a sense of community in the classroom creates an environment where compassion, respect, responsibility, self-discipline and perseverance thrive. Embracing individual strengths and interests fosters respect for all racial, religious, ethnic and diverse backgrounds. Administrators, teachers and students encourage one another to achieve a high caliber of success on individual levels; without anxiety or competition. Individual needs and abilities are respected and celebrated.
Our students will be prepared to take hold of their futures with passion and confidence as they make meaningful contributions to our community and world.
Through mutual support from school, home and the community, students will be given enriching opportunities to learn outside of the classroom. Students are encouraged to explore afterschool activities to develop whole-person learning. Service learning within the community will be a prominent element and engage students in being active citizens. Through interaction with field experts and opportunities for domestic and international educational experiences students will gain first-hand knowledge of our everchanging world.
Our holistic approach to education supports students in learning, practicing and mastering effective communication, leadership, critical thinking and conflict resolution skills. This approach allows students the opportunity for inquiry based learning and hands-on experiences that foster skills needed for a lifetime of success. Through a curriculum that integrates academics, technology, critical thinking and creativity our students will gain the skills needed for higher education, career readiness and a lifetime of success.
